Traditional American company with German roots
The German founder of the family business, Mathias Klein, opened a small workshop in the business district of Chicago after his emigration to the USA, where he was asked by a worker to replace one half of a broken side cutter.
Thanks to impressive workmanship, Klein’s work was so stable that, after a short time, he was also asked to rebuild the second half of the pliers. The first work piece was created – albeit in two stages – and laid the foundations for the traditional Klein Tools brand.
