Ensuring both the protection of people and systems and availability while achieving high energy efficiency and minimised operating costs is no easy task. Likewise, digitalisation, among other things, brings new challenges, but also opportunities. The SENTRON protective switching devices with measurement and communication capabilities were developed precisely for these requirements. They offer a smart solution for comprehensive protection of people, plants and systems and, at the same time, an effective approach to avoiding plant shutdowns based on the transparency gained in the power distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transparency, minimisation of faults and increased security of supply<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/span>In addition to the standard-compliant protective function, the 5SL6 COM<\/a> miniature circuit breakers and 5SV6 COM AFDD\/LS<\/a> circuit breakers record values in the circuit as well as the status of the devices. This enables transparency of the power distribution up to the final circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this way, faults that are about to occur can be detected at an early stage by exceeding or falling below defined limit values in order to minimise such supply interruptions. Malfunctions of the system can also be made clear in this way. Data, such as the number of operating hours or trips of the components, allow conclusions to be drawn about the lifetime of the units, so that their maintenance\/replacement can be planned at an early stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this way, you can ensure that the units are replaced at the right time, avoid unnecessary costs and increase the function and availability of your system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simplified planning and installation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The installation of communication-capable protective switchgear in a new or existing system may sound complex, but with SENTRON components it can be implemented without much additional effort due to the small size in only 1 partition unit (HP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the space requirement of only 1 HP, existing switches can easily be replaced by the miniature circuit breakers 5SL6 COM and AFDD\/LS switches 5SV6 COM with measuring and communication function. If it is necessary to retrofit instead of replace, the auxiliary\/fault signal switches 5ST3 COM with an overall width of 0.5 HP can be mounted on conventional SENTRON protective switchgear in order to expand the existing devices with measuring and communication functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
