We decided to use a programmable control voltage module with constant voltage and constant current and install it in a suitable housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<span data-view=\"article\" data-artid=\"239864\" data-lang=\"de\"><\/span><strong>Suitable for:<\/strong> Beginners with basic knowledge<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Time required:<\/strong> Approx. two hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Budget:<\/strong> About \u00a380<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What you need:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/gb\/en\/dps-laboratory-power-supply-0-50-v-0-15-a-joy-it-dps-5015-p239864.html?GROUPID=5940&amp;START=0&amp;OFFSET=16&amp;SID=95WuA25awQATMAAD2uaXIa5db22c80375586da32457d9f51128dd&amp;&amp;r=1\">JOY-IT DPS 5015 Laboratory power supply<\/a> and the matching housing: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/dps-laboratory-power-supply-extension-housing-joy-it-dps-case-p239861.html?trstct=pos_0&amp;&amp;r=1\">JOY-IT DPS CASE<\/a>, shrink tubing for assembling the housing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Can be extended with:<\/strong> A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/dps-laboratory-power-supply-extension-usb-joy-it-dps-usb-p239862.html?trstct=pos_0&amp;&amp;r=1\">Micro-USB module<\/a> to adjust the laboratory power supply with a computer or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/dps-laboratory-power-supply-extension-bluetooth-joy-it-dps-bt-p239860.html?trstct=pos_0&amp;&amp;r=1\">Bluetooth module<\/a> to operate the device with a smartphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You will also need:<\/strong> Basic equipment of electronic tools, soldering station, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prepare the small circuit board<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting with the small circuit board, solder a fan for the housing to this board. Then install a toggle switch and route a cable to the main board. Since this board has no connection for the fan, the fan for the case must be soldered to the small board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, the cable of the supplied fan has to be cut. Now you must carefully remove the insulation from the two wires so that the wires are approx. 4mm free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Solder the red cable (+) to the &#8220;+&#8221; marking and the black cable to the &#8220;-&#8221; marking. Use the red and the black cable with the smaller diameter. Solder them to the toggle switch as shown in the picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contacts are insulated with shrink tubing to prevent short circuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Establish connection between small board and main board<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now&nbsp; prepare and solder the supply line from the small board to the main board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the cables (the red &#8220;+&#8221; cable and the black &#8220;-&#8221; cable) with a larger diameter for this supply line. Cut them off after a length of approx. 9cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attention: Do not cut too many cables, otherwise the cables may become to short for the outputs later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both sides must be stripped to approx. 5mm and a forked cable lug must be attached to one end of the two cables. These ends are also insulated with shrink tubing to prevent a short circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other end of the two cables must be soldered to the small circuit board of the housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pay attention to the polarity. Red = &#8220;+&#8221; and Black = &#8220;-&#8220;.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solder the toggle switch<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_05.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_05.png\" alt=\"Solder toggle switch\" class=\"wp-image-81932\" width=\"470\" height=\"182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_05.png 940w, https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_05-300x116.png 300w, https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_05-768x297.png 768w, https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_05-500x193.png 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 470px) 100vw, 470px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you can solder the toggle switch. Make sure that you lead the cable of the switch through the housing or attach the toggle switch to the housing. Solder the ends of the toggle switch cable to the &#8220;KEY&#8221; pads on the small circuit board. Solder the red cable to the rectangular pad and the black cable to the round pad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Install the main board<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_06.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_06.png\" alt=\"Install main board\" class=\"wp-image-81940\" width=\"352\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_06.png 704w, https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_06-300x251.png 300w, https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_06-395x330.png 395w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 352px) 100vw, 352px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you can fix the main board with four screws on the bottom side of the housing and install the connections of the inputs and outputs of the power supply. Mount the connections as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prepare the cable for the output voltage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The next step is to make the cable for the output voltage. You will need to reuse the cables with the larger diameter. Strip both ends by approx. 5mm. First, attach the input voltage cable (&#8220;IN+&#8221; and &#8220;IN-&#8220;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, you can attach the output voltage cable (&#8220;OUT+&#8221; and &#8220;OUT-&#8220;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect the end of the output voltage cable to the front terminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Connect the display<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_10.png\" alt=\"Connect the display\" class=\"wp-image-81972\" width=\"288\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_10.png 576w, https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_10-296x300.png 296w, https:\/\/www.reichelt.com\/magazin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Labornetzteil_10-326x330.png 326w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 288px) 100vw, 288px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The last thing you need to connect is the display with two cables on the motherboard. One cable is for the display (&#8220;LCD&#8221;) and one cable for the buttons (&#8220;KEY&#8221;). The connectors for the cables are marked both on the board and on the display.
