In recent years, the trend for having the kitchen, living room and dining room together in an open plan living space<\/strong> has grown. However, this presents ventilation challenges. If you have a fireplace<\/strong> in the living area, such as the increasingly popular air-conditioned Swedish stoves, it is essential to ensure you have an adequate fresh air supply<\/strong> if using an extractor hood<\/strong> simultaneously. Without fresh air, the suction of the hood could cause carbon monoxide to be sucked from the fireplace into the room; a potentially life-threatening situation.<\/p>\n

The Schabus FSD 100 wireless extractor fan controller<\/strong> is a simple way to guarantee a fresh air supply when operating a fume extractor.<\/p>\n

The problem with the combination of a fume extractor and a room with an air dependent fireplace is that modern extractor hoods have very strong suction. Since today’s low-energy buildings are also air-tightly insulated, with draughty windows and doors a thing of the past, a window must be actively opened for fresh air to enter the room.<\/p>\n

The system uses an 868 MHz radio frequency<\/strong> and continuously monitors the position of a window sash in the living or kitchen area. The controller transmits the status to the receiver. If the window is closed and the hood is put into operation, the control unit switches it off immediately. As a result, no dangerous suction can take place to draw carbon monoxide<\/strong> from the fireplace.<\/p>\n

The receiver, installed in the exhaust air system, also switches off the exhaust fan if necessary, so that exhaust\u2019s light source is still supplied with power.<\/p>\n
