Smart home in next to no time with the Homematic IP WLAN Access Point

Safe, uncomplicated and visually unobtrusive: that’s how most users want their smart home. To get even closer to this idea, Homematic IP has developed a new WLAN access point. We explain what the product can do.

Easy to set up and offering a wide range of options

As the control centre for the intelligent devices, the WLAN access point from Homematic IP is the heart of the smart home. After connecting to a WLAN network, it can be easily set up using the associated smartphone app. The user is guided through the installation steps in an uncomplicated manner.

Afterwards, any Homematic IP product can be installed and intuitively controlled via app – the manufacturer offers a heating or security product line, among others. The new access point, for example, is already included in the Access Point + Heizkörperthermostat – basic, which consists of a radiator thermostat and a door and window contact.

Compact and freely placeable

Compared to the alternative model, the WLAN access point does not require a network cable. This has the advantage for the user that the control unit can be positioned freely in the room, for example inconspicuously on a shelf or a cabinet. Furthermore, it measures only 100 x 19 x 40 mm. For comparison: the LAN access point is almost twice as large at 118 x 26 x 104 mm.

Maximum security

A special feature of the Homematic IP Access Point is that no personal data is collected or queried and the user remains completely anonymous. Even with communication between the access point and devices, which takes place via a secure radio protocol, the user does not need to worry about data security. Nevertheless, practical functions such as access from on the road via the cloud or voice control are still available.
