LEDEX STA cylinder magnets are available in 6 sizes, each in pull or push versions. The design enables a compact construction with a high power density and noise reduced operation.
The advantages compared to frame magnets:
- Service life up to 25 million cycles (instead of approx. 100,000 cycles)
- level wound precision coil with resistance tolerance of only +/-5% (instead of +/-10%)
- integrated spacer between the pole faces. It reduces the noise when reaching the end position. It also prevents “sticking” due to residual magnetism.
- Armature with a special nickel coating for good sliding properties
- no lubrication required
- simple and quick installation due to single-hole fixing with union nut
- numerous windings for various voltages in continuous operation as well as in short-term operation
- many configuration options
- Spring Kits available as accessories
LEDEX “Spring Kits
The ideal supplement for LEDEX STA linear solenoids in cylindrical design and applications requiring spring return. They allow quick conversion, various configuration options and are therefore ideally suited for prototypes and small series. The set consists of a longer armature, 2 return springs, retaining rings and thrust washers.LEDEX is part of the JOHNSON ELECTRIC group of companies and has been a leading supplier of rotary and linear solenoids in the USA for over 75 years. Specially developed products are manufactured for the US Army and US Postal. The wide standard range for the industrial market includes rotary and linear solenoids in various technological designs.
General:
Linear and rotary solenoids are used in applications where high dynamics are required.
They are ideal for fast movements in only a few milliseconds and over a defined path, which are usually not achieved with other types of drive. For this reason, the products can also be regarded as an ideal complement to motors.
General and typical key data for the entire range
- Reaction/ switching times: 10ms – 50ms
- Stroke: up to 25mm
- Angle of rotation (for rotary solenoids): up to 95
- Power consumption: 3W to 400W
- Holding force: up to 800N (~80Kg)
Typical functions and applications
- Sorting, e.g. notes in cash dispensers, rejects in the final inspection
- Locking, e.g. access control in buildings, safety interlocks in ovens, autoclaves, charging stations, etc.
- Unlocking, e.g. in magazines for the removal of tools, medicines, etc.
- Switching devices, e.g. mail sorting, conveyor belts in logistics and production plants
- Dosing, e.g. of liquids in swimming pool & medical technology, blood analysis devices, beverage dispensers, commercial coffee machines
- Entertainment, e.g. automatic piano
- Other, e.g. valve in breathalysers, haptics/feedback systems in remote controls
