ITIUS - Smart home without limits thanks to matter and thread

ITIUS – Smart home without limits thanks to matter and thread

Smart home technologies are increasingly becoming part of everyday life, but for a long time their implementation was complicated: Different systems, incompatible manufacturers and the need for separate bridges have presented users with challenges. With the new Matter standard, this problem is now a thing of the past. ITIUS, a German company based in Braunschweig, Germany, has developed a range of innovative products based on this manufacturer-independent standard.

Matter – the new standard in smart homes

Until now, smart home devices often needed special hubs or apps to communicate with each other. Matter, a standard from the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), is changing that: devices from Apple, Amazon, Google, LG, Siemens and many other manufacturers can now work together seamlessly. Users no longer need to be tied to a single ecosystem, but can mix and match their smart home devices. Matter also puts control of the collected data back in the hands of the user.

ITIUS relies on matter and thread for greater efficiency

“When the CSA laid the foundations for Matter a few years ago, ITIUS was there from the start. We have been developing both the hardware and software for our smart home products in Germany as part of the CSA network for more than two years,” explains Jörn Glomba, Managing Director of ITIUS GmbH.

The first market-ready product is the ITIUS LED smart home lamp. As well as using the future-proof Matter standard, it incorporates Thread technology – a low-power mesh networking technology designed specifically for smart home applications.

What can the lamp do? What does ITIUS not need?

Why Matter and Thread?

While Matter provides simple, vendor-independent communication, Thread brings other benefits:

  • WLAN independence: Thread works as a standalone network, freeing up the home WLAN.
  • Reliability and range: The ITIUS lamp acts not only as a receiver, but also as a repeater, stabilising the connection and extending the network range.
  • Low power consumption: In standby mode, the ITIUS lamp consumes only 0.25 watts, significantly less than conventional WiFi smart lamps.
  • No extra bridges required: No additional bridge is required to use Matter and Thread. In most cases, an existing Apple HomePod, Google Nest or newer generation Amazon Echo will be sufficient to operate the system.

“Home Wi-Fi can quickly reach its limits as more and more smart home devices are integrated. Thread is designed for this and provides a reliable solution that we can build on,” says Jörn Glomba.

Matter is the new smart home standard that unites device manufacturers, platforms and ecosystems.

Innovative Technology – Made in Germany

ITIUS goes beyond standard integration. Together with Auerswald GmbH & Co. KG, a specialist in hardware and software solutions, ITIUS has developed its own Matter chip. Thanks to Auerswald’s many years of experience, we were able to create a smart, powerful solution that meets our high quality standards,” continues Glomba.

Future proof smart home products from ITIUS

ITIUS launches with an E27 RGB LED lamp, with other variants such as GU10 and a special LED module to follow in summer 2025. The product range will continue to expand, always with a focus on safety, sustainability and ease of use.

The ITIUS brand was born out of the ETT Group’s vision to make smart technology accessible to everyone. With over 30 years of experience in the electronics industry, ETT has created the foundation for ITIUS. Now ITIUS is setting new standards for an open, future-proof smart home – without technical barriers.
