Companies work with ever larger amounts of data and therefore need more and more data storage. This also causes the demand for hard drives with high storage capacities to rise continuously. One thing is already clear: the hard drive is and will remain the dominant storage medium of the future. In order to be able to guarantee sufficient storage in server centers, Western Digital produces hard disks with the innovative Energy Assisted Magnetic Recording (EAMR) technology. Your products are therefore very cost-effective, especially for data centers, and are now available in the reichelt online shop.
More capacity with ePMR
EAMR technology is being implemented commercially for the first time in Western Digital hard drives. This means that they offer a higher surface density thanks to a higher BPI value (bits per inch) and thus also increase the storage capacity. Energy-enhanced PMR (ePMR) provides a bias current that is applied to the recording head to improve writability. Electric current is passed into the write head, which generates an additional magnetic field and in this way reduces jitter. This allows the discs to be written more closely – the possible data density is increased.Triple Stage Actuator (TSA) for better precision
So that the higher data density can be accessed, three-part write heads are used. They can be adjusted more finely than the two-tier actuators that have been used up to now and are referred to by Western Digital as Triple Stage Actuators (TSA). The three-stage design helps to ensure that the print heads can be positioned faster and more precisely as required.
More discs with helium filling
The advantages of a hard drive filled with helium are well known. Since the inert gas has a much lower density than air, there is less turbulence inside a drive filled with helium. This allows thinner discs to be used. While air-based hard drives are severely limited in the number of possible discs, the Helium drives from Western Digital use up to nine discs in the 18TB drive. The HelioSeal ™ technology also reduces energy consumption.
New technologies, such as the use of artificial intelligence in more and more areas of life and business, will also cause the amount of data to grow rapidly in the future. This is why companies and data center operators must be able to rely on reliable hard drives with high storage capacity. A Western Digital EAMR-WD hard drive, such as the WD Gold ™ HDD, is the first step.
