Elektriker-Werkzeug: Diese vier WEICON Tools gehören zur Grundausstattung

Electrician’s tools: These four WEICON tools belong to the basic equipment

If you’re looking for the right electrician’s tool, you’ll quickly discover that the selection can be as impressive as it is overwhelming. But whether you’re a do-it-yourselfer or a professional, here are four tools from WEICON that no toolbox should be without.

Solid basic equipment for craftsmen

The manufacturer WEICON TOOLS combines in its Profi-Starter Set the four most important electrician tools. In this post, we take a closer look at each tool and show you what they can do.

Must-have No. 1 – the cable knife

Kabelmesser

Before the invention of modern cable knives, simple folding knives were used to strip cables. However, because the risk of injury and the risk of damaging the electrical conductor were very high, another solution was soon needed. Today, modern cable cutters, preferably with an integrated set screw, make it much easier, safer and more precise to remove the sheathing from common types of round cable.

With the KABELMESSER MULT included in the Professional Starter Set, you can use the adjusting screw to set the inner knife individually to the sheath thickness of the respective cable. The cranked inner knife can also be turned freely radially to make a circular cut on the cable. The inner knife penetrates the jacket, aligns itself and cuts through the jacket. Two to three rotations are sufficient to obtain a precise cutting pattern.

Without reattachment, it is possible to make a longitudinal cut in the same step, because the cutting blade automatically rotates itself in the direction of pull without losing the set height. The so-called holding bracket, which is equipped with a tension spring, is responsible for guiding the cable and centering the inner blade. The result: a precise consistent cut in the shortest possible time.

The No. S 4-28 cable knife is suitable for round cables with a diameter of 4 mm to 28 mm. Little bonus: In addition, a hook blade has been integrated into the tool, which can be recessed into the housing.

Must also not be missing – the automatic wire stripper

If you often want to process cables with different diameters and cross-sections, it is best to use an automatic wire stripper to work quickly and efficiently. Without manual adjustment of the outer diameter, the blade of the wire stripper first cuts into the insulation and then pulls it off the conductor. In this way, two work steps can be completed directly with one hand movement.

The stripping pliers No. 5 is suitable for all common flexible and solid conductors from 0.2 mm2 to 6 mm² and has an adjustable length stop (5-12 mm) for particularly precise work, for example for making up series. Another special feature of the No. 5: It has an integrated side cutter (up to 2 mm diameter).

For working in hard-to-reach places – a tool with a longer design.

Rundkabel-Stripper No. 13

Those who have often dealt with the installation of flush-mounted boxes and cavity wall boxes will know it: Working in low-lying boxes can be troublesome due to difficult access. There is no room here for clunky and unwieldy tools!

The Round Cable Stripper No. 13 is suitable for flush stripping of round and damp room cables with a diameter of 6 mm to 13 mm in particularly hard-to-reach places. Due to its special ergonomic handle shape, the stripper lies non-slip in the hand. The rounded and space-saving tool head is perfectly adapted to the design of today’s can geometry. Even cables located in deeper cavity wall cans can be reached effortlessly and reliably stripped thanks to the longer design of the tool.

A length stop is integrated in the housing and can be set as desired in the range from 3 cm to 10 cm. The sheathing can be removed without adjusting the cutting depth. Thanks to the clever blade arrangement, you also don’t have to deal with clogging sheath residues. Many advantages, then, that make the stripper an indispensable electrician’s tool.

Always important – stripper for coaxial cables

Coax-Stripper No. 2
Coaxial cables, which you encounter, for example, when installing antenna sockets, have a special feature: they consist of a cable sheath with an underlying shield and an inner conductor, which is sheathed by the so-called dielectric. Coaxial cables must therefore be stripped step by step – and this can be done with the Coax Stripper No. 2.

Use the A side to expose the outer jacket up to the shielding. Using the B side, you then expose the inner conductor. All common coaxial cables – from 3.8 mm to 7.5 mm outer diameter – can be stripped using the tool. The cutting depth does not have to be set separately.

In addition, the stripper is also suitable for stripping all common NYM and flexible cables.

Did you know? Many WEICON TOOLS – including the ones presented here – are TÜV-tested. The independent institute does not only check the tools in terms of safety at work. It also takes a closer look at the materials used, for example, to rule out carcinogenic substances.

Well equipped all round

The four stripping tools presented are part of the basic equipment for craftsmen in the electrical, heating and customer service sectors and are also suitable for home and hobby use. All four tools can be found in the Suitcase Set from WEICON TOOLS – always ready to hand and safely stored.
