This is how it works: First steps into the Smart Home of the Fritzbox

AVM is making advancements in the area of Smart Home. Traditional Fritzbox routers are the control centres of the “Intelligent Home”. The company presents not only new devices, such as an intelligent power sockets for outdoor use or remote-controllable heating thermostats, but is also steadily bringing out suitable control options. The integration of new devices into the system is very easy. The guide shows how it works.

Install Intelligent power sockets

Using the intermediate connector of type Fritz!Dect 200, you can, for example, turn lamps and electrical devices on and off at specific times.

The commissioning is easy, as is the case with other existing smart home devices from AVM. Prerequisite: You must have a Fritzbox with integrated DECT phone base and current Fritz OS. Then you can get started.

  1. Plug the equipment into a socket in the vicinity of the Fritzbox. Direct reception is required for set-up, later you can also use the FritzDect 200 in other locations. The green blinking “DECT” light now indicates that the device is ready for operation.
  2. Now go to your Fritzbox and hold down the “DECT” button at the top until the “Info” light (on some models instead of the “DECT” light) begins to flash. The FritzDect 200 then connects to the Fritz Box. Once done, the light will stop flashing.
  3. Now insert the FritzDect 200 into the socket where it will be operated. You can also now plug in the devices that you want to control with the FritzDect 200. For info: The device can withstand up to 2300 W, so you can go ahead and connect very strong devices.

It is now important to program the FritzDect 200.

To do this, open the configuration menu of your Fritzbox as usual via the browser, this can be found at . The appropriate settings for the socket can be found under “Home Network” and “Smart Home”.

Here you can now save all desired switch-on and switch-off processes.
