Summer’s just around the corner and you fancy another long bike ride? Grab some snacks and drinks, put on your sunglasses and you’re off. But wait – is your bike up to the job? Does it run smoothly? Make sure you check this out first. Otherwise, what you thought was going to be a relaxing ride could quickly turn into an exhausting pedal to the metal.
In the first part of this series, we showed you how to give your bike a thorough clean in three simple steps. However, to ensure that your beloved bike not only shines, but also runs smoothly, you need to dedicate yourself to fine cleaning and maintenance. Some of the smallest components on your bike are the rear derailleur, chain and sprockets.
Antrieb reinigen

WEICON Chain Cleaner effectively removes dirt from the chain, chainrings and sprockets. The spray can also be used to clean the rear derailleur, rims and brakes to a shiny finish and to remove leaking bearing grease.
Our tip: Before using the spray, remove coarse dirt with a sprocket brush or microfibre cloth.
Oiling the chain

WEICON Chain Oil with its special PTFE formula is easy to apply thanks to the clever dosing tip. The white colour of the oil also makes it easy to visually check the lubricated areas.
Our tip: Our tip: The bicycle chain must be clean and dry before using the chain oil. After application, turn the crank backwards two or three times and wipe off any excess oil with a dry cloth.
And so it goes on
Your bike is shining like new, the drivetrain is clean and the chain is oiled. Is that all? Not quite. In the third and final part of this series, we’ll show you how to lubricate and secure the bolts on your bike.
