Mobile monitor expands Smart Devices screen via USB

Anyone who travels regularly by bus, train or plane and uses mobile applications knows how cumbersome it can be to work with very small screens, such as mobile phones. A larger or additional screen is therefore always required, whether for a notebook or to temporarily convert the smartphone into a PC. On the other hand, every gram of weight and space should not be wasted on the way. So if you’re not really dependent on your second monitor, you usually have to leave it at home. At least so far.
In order to be able to offer users who need an additional screen for their activities a really convenient solution, faytech AG, supplier of industrial touchscreen solutions and world leader in the field of optical bonding of large-format touch panels, has developed the “faytech flat”. It was originally developed as a mobile second monitor for laptops, which can be conveniently and easily connected via a USB type C or HDMI cable. In the meantime, the add-on monitor can also be used with smart devices such as tablets and various smartphones that have a desktop GUI. These include the Samsung Galaxy S9/10 and Note with DeX as well as the Huawei Mate 20 and the P20 generation in EMUI desktop mode.

Monitor for versatile use

The application possibilities are manifold: If you connect your smartphone with the faytech flat, you can read, play and work on a big screen. In combination with a keyboard, the faytech flat can even be used as a laptop due to the significant performance increase of the current high-end smartphones, which is sufficiently fast for a large part of the standard tasks. Connecting it to a laptop again gives you a workstation with two or more screens. Complex applications are also possible. Up to four faytech flat monitors connected in parallel with a PC result in a multi-screen working universe. Away from the working world, shop displays with different or coordinated contents and many other possible applications are also conceivable by combining several faytech flat monitors.
Due to its weight of only approx. 460g in the variant with touch function and about the same external dimensions as a DIN A4 paper, the faytech flat is currently the lightest mobile monitor in the world. It is therefore perfectly suited for business and occasional travellers for whom larger end devices are out of the question – and thus represents a further development of mobile computing directly after the laptop and smartphone. The low weight and thin design are possible because the faytech flat does not have an integrated stand.
Without additional hardware it can be used lying down like a sheet of paper or placed in a tablet stand. Since the faytech flat has a central screw hole at the bottom, it can be attached to a tripod.
The monitor does not have a battery. Power is supplied via USB-C (with power delivery support), the image is transmitted via the Type-C port or via HDMI. Alternatively DVI, DisplayPort and Miracast can be used via adapter.
The faytech flat has a brilliant interactive “SmoothTouch” display, which can be operated both with the fingers and – in conjunction with the Windows operating system – via active pen. The product has a FULL HD LCD panel with a thickness of less than 5mm (display) or 8mm (base) and comes with an innovative frameless design.
