The SEP8705 series consists of an aluminium–gallium-arsenide diode with infrared light output, transfer moulded into in a grey, T1 plastic enclosure. The transfer-moulding process used for this device ensures superior optical-centreline performance compared to other casting processes. These devices usually have 70%-higher output intensity than GaAs devices at the same forward current. The lengths of the connecting wires are stepped for easy polarity recognition.
