Functions
Quality of Service (QoS)
Traffic prioritization (IEEE 802.1p): allows real-time classification of data traffic with support from eight priority levels with two or four mapped queues; uses Weighted Deficit Round Robin (WDRR) or Strict Priority Queuing (SP)
Simplified QoS-configuration: port-based: data traffic prioritisation by determining VLAN-based port and priority level: data traffic prioritisation by specifying VLAN and priority level
Class of Service (CoS): sets the IEEE 802.1p priority tag based on IP address, IP ToS (Type of Service), Layer-3 protocol, TCP/UDP port number, source port and DiffServ.
Date rate limiting: sets per port forced maximum values for incoming traffic or for broadcast, multicast or traffic with unknown destination
Layer-4 prioritisation: enables prioritisation based on TCP/UDP port numbers

Management
Management interfaces: Web-based graphical user interface (GUI): the HTML-based, easy-to-use graphical interface allows configuration of the switch from any Web browser. Command Line Interface (CLI): provides advanced configuration and diagnostics via a stable CLI. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMPv1/v2c/v3): to be managed with a variety of third-party network management applications.
Virtual stacking: management of up to 16 switches through a single IP address
sFlow (RFC 3176): calculation and monitoring of data traffic line velocity configured by SNMP and CLI with three terminal-specific encrypted receivers
IEEE 802.1AB Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP): automates the protocol for device recognition for easy mapping via network management applications
Logging: the local and remote logging of events (local and remote) via SNMP (v2c and v3) and syslog; allows log to be cut down and filtered, so that fewer log events are generated

Connectivity
IPv6: IPv6 host: The switch can be deployed and managed at the edge of IPv6 networks. Dual stack (IPv4/IPv6): supports connectivity for both protocols; provides a mechanism for the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 communication. MLD snooping: forwards Ipv6 multicast traffic to the appropriate interface; prevents IPv6 multicast traffic from flooding the network.
IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE): provides up to 15.4 W per port to IEEE 802.3af-compliant PoE devices such as IP phones, wireless access points and security cameras
IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet Plus: provides up to 30 W per port for devices with power supply in line with IEEE 802.3 for PoE/PoE+ as well as video-IP phones, IEEE 802.11n wireless access points, and security cameras with wide pan area, powerful zoom and large tilt angle (for all PoE performance data, refer to the technical data)
Auto MDIX: automatic adjustment for straight through or crossover cables on all ports
Supports pre-standard PoE devices: pre-standard PoE devices are recognised and supplied with power; the devices supported are listed in the product FAQs at www.hp.com/networking/support

Layer-2 switching
VLANs: provide support for 512 VLANs and 4094 VLAN IDs
Jumbo packet support: supports frame sizes of up to 9220 bytes for higher performance when transmitting large amounts of data. The Fast Ethernet switches with 8 and 24 ports automatically support frames up to 2000 bytes, without requiring any configuration.
16K-MAC-address table: provides access to many Layer 2 units
GARP VLAN registration protocol: allows automatic learning and dynamic assignment of VLANs
