The SP70-300 mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD represents a new Tamron milestone in the development of telephoto lenses. The USD (ultrasonic silent drive) motor developed by Tamron is used for the first time in this lens. In addition, the highly-effective VC (vibration compensation) image stabiliser has also be integrated and enables exposure times up to four stops longer.

With its sensational optical performance, the super high-performance zoom appeals to a wide range of amateur photographs and represents a new generation of lenses, which also 100% meet the challenges of 24 megapixel full-frame sensors in terms of resolution and illumination of the field of view.

Highly-specialised XLD glass for extremely high resolution
The optical design of this lens uses a high-performance XLD (extra low dispersion) element made of special glass materials with an extremely low chromatic dispersion index. In this way, the glass exhibits its ability to disperse a beam of light in its spectral colours. The scattering properties are even lower than that of standard LD lenses and roughly correspond to the value of fluorites. Combined with the LD element, the XLD lens ensures the highest possible contrast and brilliance. This more effectively prevents problematic chromatic aberration in tele-photography and even ensures maximum sharpness at the edges. The result is a lens that effectively compensates for longitudinal chromatic aberration and axial magnification errors throughout the entire zoom range and guarantees the highest possible resolution and brilliance for your images.

Fast USD (ultrasonic silent drive) focusing
For the first time, this lens is fitted with a USD (ultrasonic silent drive) motor developed by Tamron. The fast focusing is suitable for photographing sports, racing or other fast-moving subjects. Thanks to the advanced motor technology and newly developed software, the Tamron USD provides accurate and noise-free high-speed focusing. The Tamron USD technology works with high-frequency ultrasonic vibrations generated by a stationary ring called a "stator". The energy produced by the vibrations is used to make a moving metal ring ("rotor") rotate.

*Please note that the lens for Sony has no image stabiliser as this is an integral part of Sony cameras.
** Tamron's conversion factor is 1.55x
